Sama Sama is a fictional dessert restaurant and community space based in the East Village. The phrase sama sama translates to "together" in Tagalog, a Filipino language, a meaning that encapsulates feelings of home, history, and community.

The branding concept for Sama Sama recreates the formation of identity in a Filipino-American's upbringing using original illustrations derived from traditional textiles and Baybayin, the Indigenous script used before Spanish colonization.

Sama Sama provides a space to celebrate Filipino culture and learning.

Here, Filipinos of the diaspora can enjoy food from the menu and attend community events that focus on history and issues that affect Filipinos/Filipino-Americans in America and in the Philippines.

Original illustrations recreate the embroidered patterns found on traditional Filipino textiles such as barongs and Maria Clara clothing, with an emphasis on floral and stitching elements. The main components include the sampaguita (national flower of the Philippines) and stitching patterns.
